Karl Lagerfeld died yesterday. I’ll really miss him.

I didn’t know too much about the man, and he didn’t know too much about me, but I’m saddened by his passing.

My condolences go out to his family and loved ones.

But I’m saddened for a different reason to most people. I drew him a lot.

He was the subject of many of the gags in my long-running cartoon strip “SUPERMODELS” in Private Eye.

Karl always provided great material,…with his constant criticism of different people, his unusual appearance, his cat…

He was a great character, and the world needs great characters. Lagerfeld was fantastic to draw, instantly recognisable, and easy to capture.

I also drew Karl a few times appearing with my cartoon supermodel Polly Bean, as can be seen on the Vogue site:

The fashion world has always been amazing for me as a cartoonist. Lots of silly characters in an even sillier world.

I’ll really miss Karl Lagerfeld.

Rest in Peace…
